Viviana Maier
I was a little artist since my childhood. I remember playing with mud and modelling shapes after a big summer rain back in Argentina.
I view clay as a moldable canvas and the tactile nature of clay adds another dimension that allows the viewer to enjoy and appreciate my passion for ceramics.
Argentinian born Ceramicist Viviana Maier studied Ceramics at the Arts National University of Misiones, Argentina (4 years). After working in her home country and the USA she has moved to Australia in 2007 where she resides in the South West of WA.
Viviana takes inspiration from Nature observing its shapes, colours and texture. "It is an endless source of beauty and inspiration."
Working in her favourite medium porcelain, which the artist describes as a pure, strong and tanslucent, her wall art grows from a 2-dimensional plane into space, developing a sculptural quality.
Her works emanate a calm rhythm of hand-moulded porcelain, variations of colour and light and shadow.
