Alice Linford Forte British, b. 1989
Alice Linford Forte is a self taught abstract and landscape oil painter, born in the UK but moved to Western Australia at a young age. Her work reflects the beauty of nature found in both countries. “My painting is an outlet for me to express myself as authentically as possible.
I lay down colours and brush strokes with raw, emotional intention, feeling out a new artwork as it emerges on the canvas without any fixed plan or procedure."
Alice Linford Forte is a self taught abstract and landscape oil painter.
She was born in England and moved to Western Australia at age two. She lived and studied in Margaret River before returning to the UK in January 2009 to work, travel and pursue her career as an artist. Over the years she has based herself on various continents around the world, but always returned to her hometown in W.A to paint from her farm studio and participate in events and exhibitions.
Alice returned to Australia permanently in March 2020. She has since been absorbed in developing her abstract style, introducing new colour palettes and techniques, always drawing inspiration from Australia’s land and sea scapes.
"Being self taught I’ve forged my own path through trial and error techniques which lead equally to success as they do to failure. The unknowing is what I enjoy most about my method. A work in progress unveils itself to me as much as it does to others, as i’m led by my subconscious. ‘Experimentation’ has been a recurring theme in my process.
Every now and again I dabble in more figurative painting, but abstract is what enables me to really let the imagination wander. It allows me to dive deep into the emotional psyche, tune out of my surroundings and get completely lost. I grew up in Margaret River on a large rural property that I’m still fortunate enough to call home, and where i have my beautiful, rustic art studio."
