REDSEA Gallery is excited to announce our upcoming Exhibition and Artist in Residence, featuring highly regarded Margaret River artist,
Chris Williamson - ‘The Obsessive Observer’.
Exhibition Dates: 6 - 29 September 2025
Artist residency: 12 - 29 September, 12-4 pm daily
At 80 years old, Chris presents a unique collection of finely detailed ink and watercolour drawings. This poignant new body of work draws us into the faded echoes of industrial Britain. Through delicate, memory-laden drawings, the artist captures the textures, rhythms, and quiet dignity of a bygone era — offering not just images, but invitations to remember. This intimate, technically masterful collection of works evokes nostalgia, memory, and the quiet beauty of moments past.
Accompanying the drawings are a series of assemblage sculptures, each one echoing the themes and narratives found within Williamson’s illustrations. Created from reused and reinvented objects, these sculptures hold hidden references to their paired works - extending the story from paper into three-dimensional form.
'The Obsessive Observer' exhibition opens on 6 Sept. From 12 - 29 Sept (12-4 pm daily) visitors will be able to interact with the artist during his residency at REDSEA Gallery to observe his meticulous process, and gain insights into his inspiration, use of reclaimed materials, and narrative approach.
