OPENING EVENT of EQUILIBRIUM
REDSEA Gallery Margaret River celebrated the opening of Equilibrium on Saturday 11 October with a vibrant evening of art, music and conversation. Collectors, art lovers and local supporters gathered to meet acclaimed Australian artist Peter Usher and experience his latest body of work.
Guests enjoyed live music and fine regional wines, including Passel Estate’s award-winning 'La Joie' Méthode Traditionnelle Chenin Blanc and their full-bodied Shiraz, alongside Leeuwin Estate’s Art Series Sauvignon Blanc, which features one of Usher’s own artworks. The atmosphere was warm, engaging, and filled with great conversation and a shared appreciation for Usher’s evocative landscapes.
As the evening unfolded, guests gathered to hear Peter speak about his practice and the inspirations behind Equilibrium. He reflected on how his work is shaped not by what he sees, but by what he feels — translating the sensory and emotional experience of the landscape onto canvas. Through colour, form and atmosphere, he seeks to capture the essence of place rather than its exact likeness, offering viewers a way to see the world through feeling rather than observation.
His words resonated deeply with the audience, adding new layers of understanding to the works surrounding them. The paintings seemed to hum with quiet intensity — each one a moment of balance between nature, emotion and memory. As the night drew on, conversation and connection filled the gallery, leaving guests with a renewed sense of appreciation for both the art and the landscape that inspired it.
REDSEA Gallery extends heartfelt thanks to everyone who attended and supported the event.
